How to Decorate a Coffee Table

Decorating a coffee table can be a fun way to show your personality and style in your living room. There are many different ways to do it, but here are a few tips to get you started.

One way to decorate a coffee table is to put a tray on top of it. This can be used to hold drinks or snacks or to display decorative items. You can choose a tray that matches the style of your living room, or go with something more unique and eclectic.

Another option is to use a stack of books as a makeshift tabletop. This can add some visual interest and texture to the space. You can choose books that match the color scheme of your living room or go with a fun and eclectic mix.

Finally, you can add plants or flowers to the coffee table to bring some life and color into the space. Choose plants that fit with the overall aesthetic of your living room, or go for something more unique and colorful.

Choosing the Perfect Coffee Table

Before you decorate your coffee table you want to make sure you have the perfect coffee table to decorate. A coffee table is such a vital piece to a living area. It anchors the entire space. So it’s important that you choose one that is right for the room and is one that you love!

Just after we moved into our home, we knew we needed a larger coffee table to fill our space. We have a pretty decent size living room, and high ceilings and the space is open to other rooms. Although there were several we liked online, we decided to have one custom-made. We chose to go simple with an all-black metal rectangular coffee table.

I realize that most people do not want to have a coffee table custom-made, so here are some of our favorite coffee tables that will work with a variety of design styles.

Crate and Barrel Van Black Wood Coffee Table

An all-wood coffee table is a simplistic way to make a statement, especially when the table is in a darker shade. The Van Charcoal Wood Coffee Table is made from solid white oak veneer. With its intricate wood grain and architectural style, it will be a piece that everyone will notice. The same table is also offered in a natural oak finish.

The Folsom by Pottery Barn

The second up on the list is the Folsom by Pottery Barn. The warm wood coffee table displays the wood grain and knots perfectly. It offers a simple, geometric construction and can be ordered in either Desert Pine or Charcoal.

Ballard Designs Esme

One of my favorites is the Esme from Ballard Designs. The oversized wood table is made with grained acai wood. The lower height makes it easy to reach for a more relaxed conversation piece. It displays minimalistic design and lines along with substantial proportions.

West Elm Marble-Topped Pedestal

This Marble-Topped Pedestal by West Elm is a perfect mixed material statement for any room. It has a modern edge, round top, and pedestal base that is a very popular and unique design. This table has a sophisticated look that will be an asset to any living area.

Crate and Barrel Fernando Metal Drum

The Fernando is a handcrafted, iron drum with a bronze finish. This an exclusive to Crate and Barrel with hand-hammered, earthy textures. This drum coffee table offers a modern look with unique characteristics.

The Malcolm by Pottery Barn

The Malcolm by Pottery Barn is one of my favorites considering I have the Malcolm Console table in my entryway. The table has a spruce wood top and a black metal frame the perfect modern and rustic contrast. The open design concept allows for baskets and storage underneath.

Pottery Barn Staton Coffee Table

The Stanton by Potter Barn is another round, mixed-material table that will definitely accent your space. It pairs a faux concrete top with a carved dark brown sungai wood pedestal base. This piece offers a modern feel with an earthy industrial vibe.
