In our basement, we have a rec room with a cased opening leading to a work out room. We wanted a way to close off the workout room when needed. So we decided on double barn doors.

I am a firm believer that you can create a high end, expensive look for less. There are places to spend your money, but somewhere that you will often change things up isn’t a very wise place to overspend. If you are like me, I am always changing rugs, pictures, and other home decor items. It is hard for me to justify spending an exaggerative amount on most decor items, well, unless I’m in love with it!

Ceiling fixtures and recessed lighting can always cause some confusion while in the process of building or remodeling a home. The fact of the matter is, many only are thinking about the beauty of a light fixture and not really the function. I get it, I am the same way. Around here, beauty almost always comes before functionality.

Years ago before I had a kitchen island, I always dreamed of having one. Our very first kitchen was a galley kitchen and the second one wasn’t large enough. But, the third time was a charm! In our third home, which was a custom build for us, we made sure and added an island into the kitchen design.
