We have been on the search for the best light gray paint color for the shutters on the house we are renovating. We love the look of light gray against white painted brick and siding. There’s just something about the subtle contrast that looks so clean and crisp. We ended up choosing Farrow and Ball Cornforth White, but I have to say it was a hard choice. There are so many beautiful light gray paint colors out there! Out of all the ones that we came across in our research, here are our favorites.
Farrow and Ball Cornforth White
Cornforth White by Farrow and Ball is probably my number one favorite light gray! This beautiful light gray paint color is what we chose for our flip house shutters. It has just the right amount of gray to create the subtle contrast with Benjamin Moore White Dove which is the color we chose for the brick and siding.
Cornforth White is neither too warm nor too cool and very calming. It is a great color to use on either the exterior or an interior of a home. Conrworth White is normally paired with whites and wood tones for that natural, subtle contrast.
Sherwin Williams Repose Gray
Repose Gray is a warm, neutral color gray with taupe undertones. It is what many say is the “perfect gray.” It looks great against white walls and would be the right gray if you are looking for something versatile and something to go with pretty much anything. Repose Gray is definitely one that we considered using for our flip house shutters, but we wanted to go even a little lighter.
Sherwin Williams Modern Gray
Modern Gray by Sherwin Williams is a warm gray that leans more towards a taupe. Personally, I like this color more on the interior such as for a wall color or kitchen cabinets. It can sometimes have a pink undertone, but that depends on the lighting. Modern Gray is a beautiful color to pair with light wood tones and brass or black accents.
Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray
Agreeable Gray is one that I see many people saying is the ultimate greige color. Meaning, it is a light gray that has some beige tones within. Agreeable Gray by Sherwin Williams is probably of the most popular colors out there for a neutral interior color other than white. This color is on the warmer side of the spectrum and is a neutral color that will go with almost anything.
Benjamin Moore Classic Gray
Classic Gray is another well-liked light gray that many use on both the interior and exterior of a home. It is actually an off-white that sometimes can pull undertones depending on the surroundings. I love this color because of its sophistication and versatility.
Sherwin Williams Worldly Gray
The last of our favorite light gray colors is Worldly Gray by Sherwin Williams. This color is both warm and soft and offers that subtle contrast again against white walls or trim. It is the perfect color to use on a home’s exterior, interior walls, or even cabinets. Worldly Gray is slightly darker than one of the previous colors, Agreeable Gray. If you plan on using it on the interior, it might be best to use it in a room with lots of natural light since it is a little darker.
