If you’re looking for a dark, dramatic paint color, Sherwin Williams Inkwell (SW 6992) might be just the thing. Its rich hue is perfect for creating an intense atmosphere in a room. If you’re wanting to add some drama to your home or want to create a moody space, Inkwell can certainly do this. And it pairs very well with a variety of other colors. So you can easily customize its look to fit your style. We used this color on the picture framed walls in our home office and absolutely love it! In this article, I’m going to tell you all about this fabulous paint color.
What is the LRV of Inkwell?
The LRV (Light Reflectance Value) of Sherwin Williams Inkwell is 4. The LRV value refers to the amount of light a paint reflects. It’s measured on a spectrum where black is 0 with no reflection and white is 100, which reflects all light. Inkwell is a 4. This means it is at the very low end of the spectrum and has little to no light reflection.
With such a low LRV you probably want to use this color in a room that gets quite a bit of sunlight. For instance, we used Sherwin Williams Inkwell on all of our office walls and trim, but we also have two huge windows within this room. This allows the beautiful undertones of this color to be seen. In a room with no natural light, Inkwell would appear much darker than what it really is.
What are the Undertones of Sherwin Williams Inkwell?
Sherwin Williams Inkwell is a very dark color with grey and deep blue undertones. These undertones make Inkwell appear more of a dark blue or dark gray rather than black.
Where Can You Use Inkwell?
Inkwell is a great color to use within an office, dining room, or even living room. This dark, moody shade of black adds a touch of sophistication and elegance to any space. It pairs well with neutral furniture and décor, or can even be used as an accent wall to make a bold statement.
When used within a dining area the deep hue creates a dramatic atmosphere for intimate dinners or dinner parties. It also complements metallic accents and artwork, making for a stunning and chic dining space.
Inkwell can also be used in the bedroom to create a cozy and relaxing retreat. Pairing it with soft bedding and light wooden furniture gives off a contemporary yet soothing vibe.
Although these are a few of our favorite places to use this color, overall, Sherwin Williams Inkwell is a versatile paint color that can add depth and character to any room in the home.
