During our kitchen design process, we didn’t put a lot of emphasis on the pantry door. But then we realized that if we did something ordinary, we would be missing out on an opportunity to add another “wow factor” element to our kitchen.
A pantry door is a great place to make a statement. We want something beautiful and distinctive while still being highly functional.
I kept eying a couple of different options. I knew with all the darker cabinetry and lighter color on the walls, I for sure wanted to go with something with warmer wood tones. There is just something about this combination that speaks to me.
Double Wood Pantry Door
We are contemplating two different options. Option one would be much like this double wood door by reDesign Home. It demonstrates lots of character with its older look.
The glass adds in some interest as well, providing a peek into the panty. Although, this does mean that I’m going to have to step up my organization skills. The last thing I want is people see a cluttered and messy pantry.
The hardware will also play a big part in making a statement. I love these antique brass knobs, and how they tie in perfectly with the brass cabinetry pulls. Can you tell I just love this entire kitchen?
Arched Pantry Door Door
The other option we are considering is an arched door for the pantry. I absolutely love this look, but it will be a little more work. We didn’t do arched openings at the time of framing, so we would need to go back and add that.
If we decide on this option, we’ll also have to go back and add an arch to the cased opening on the other side of the refrigerator. There would be some added work here, but probably well worth it.
To me, the arched opening creates a bit of a cottage vibe. I think it also adds lots of interest to a room, which I love. If we do the arch, the door will not have glass. So with this style, I wouldn’t have to worry as much about having my pantry in tip-top shape at all times.
This is such a tough choice! But we’ll have to decide soon because lead time on this type of custom door is about 3 weeks.

November 13, 2019 at 7:43 pmDo you have any information on pot lighting?
What sizes work best and colours. What size would you recommend on vaulted ceilings?
Hello Tina! We are using 6 inch recess lighting, a couple of hanging pendant lights over the island, and a couple of wall sconces above our shelves in the kitchen. Hope this helps!
November 13, 2019 at 10:44 pmI love the pantry doors you are doing! Did you guys make them or were they something you found pre-made/off the shelf? We are in the design phase of our house and that is something we are trying to figure out. I love all your tips and inspiration!! ❤️
January 7, 2020 at 3:58 amHello Shannon! So glad you like the pantry doors. We were really pleased with the way they turned out. We actually worked with a local company here to make them. We basically just showed them a picture and they made exactly what we wanted.
