It’s no secret that we kinda like porch swings. I think every porch needs a swing to enjoy and relax on. We have had some type of swing at most every home we have ever lived in, and we know that has been a few. There is just something about a swing that takes me back to when I was younger sitting on my grandmothers porch. I have fond family memories of swinging and relaxing on the back porch. I can’t imagine having a house without one!
So when we started planning for this build, we discussed lots of things, but a pantry was not one of them. Im not the typical mother or wife that cooks every night or has a stash of food in the cabinets. Actually, I would be kind of embarrassed to show you my pantry right now. You would probably call me a horrible mother or think that I do not feed my children. I can assure you this is not the case, but I do not buy in excess and really don’t have much need for a huge pantry.
As we are in the planning stage of our new custom build, it is very important to think about each detail and each room. Henry and I plan each room separately. They will all follow the same overall theme, but each will have features making them unique.
We’ve planned on painting the brick on our new house from the beginning, but we’ve seen some really pretty lime washed houses lately. This has us thinking of maybe lime washing instead.
Brooke has been busy finding vaulted ceiling inspiration like the image above. It’s images like that one that really got her thinking we needed to go vaulted with our great room and kitchen in the new house. We started off searching on line for a stock plan, but we quickly realized that it was going to be impossible to find a plan that had vaulted ceilings and everything else we were looking for. So at that point, we started the search for an architect. This was going to be a completely new process for us since on our other houses we had always used a stock plan and modified it to fit our needs.
