I can hardly believe I’m typing this, but it’s true. From dream to reality, we’ve officially been selected as the 2026 Project Home for Cottages & Bungalows magazine!
This is more than just a title. It’s a dream realized. A full-circle moment. And something we’ve been working toward, step by step, ever since we started sharing our journey on Plank & Pillow.
From Dream to Reality
When we launched Plank & Pillow, it was simply a way to share our love for design, DIY, and building homes that felt personal, livable, and beautiful. We started with one project, then another, learning, growing, and building not just houses, but a community.
Back in those early days, we would flip through magazines like Cottages & Bungalows and dream of someday seeing our work in those glossy pages. Not for fame, but because we truly love what we do. We love the process. We love good design. And most of all, we love inspiring others to create a home that feels like them.
Fast forward to now, and here we are: honored, humbled, and incredibly excited to be chosen as the 2026 Project Home for our new custom build right here in the hills of our very small town Kingsport, TN.
What Does This Mean?
Being selected means we’ll work hand-in-hand with Cottages & Bungalows to design, build, and share a custom home that embodies the very best of cottage and bungalow living, charm, craftsmanship, and intentional design.
It will be featured throughout 2026 in the magazine as well as American Farmhouse Magazine and online, giving readers a front-row seat to everything from concept to construction, finishes to final styling.
What Will This Look Like?
This 2,700 sq ft, 3-bedroom cottage-style home is thoughtfully nestled in the rolling hills of Tennessee, offering breathtaking views and a sense of place that feels both enduring and serene. Designed to look as if it’s always belonged, this home blends timeless character with clean, modern lines and an elegant balance of heritage and fresh simplicity.
From the beginning, the vision was clear: to create a home that felt welcoming, rooted, and rich with story, not overly trendy or stark, but warm, meaningful, and enduring. The result is a beautifully layered home full of intentional design, custom craftsmanship, and rich materials that speak to old-world charm while offering all the functionality of modern living.
We’ll be working with incredible partners, brands, and makers who align with our values of quality, beauty, and purpose-driven design to bring it all to life.
