As much as Henry and I love building new homes, we love the character of older homes as well. It is sometimes hard to achieve the character and older look on a brand new home, but it can be accomplished. One way we are implementing this character is trying to give our exterior brick somewhat of an older look.
During our kitchen design process, we didn’t put a lot of emphasis on the pantry door. But then we realized that if we did something ordinary, we would be missing out on an opportunity to add another “wow factor” element to our kitchen.
At the beginning of fall, I shared with you all how I would not be buying any mums this year. I do love mums, but every year it is a waste of money for me to purchase them. They always die and I can never get them to live over a month or so. I mean, I don’t have the best green thumb, but surely I couldn’t be that horrible for this to happen year after year.
We all love a beautiful home and all the gorgeous furnishings, but the part that isn’t so glamorous is the monthly payment that comes along with it. The truth is, having a mortgage is simply a part of life for most homeowners.
Kitchen decisions have been high on the priority list this week with picking a kitchen cabinetry color and now choosing the perfect countertop. You may already know, but we are big fans of quartz. We love the look of natural stone, but for us and the season we are in our lives, quartz is just a better option. We have both quartz and marble in our current home, so we have hands-on experience with both.
