I normally stick to topics about home decor, building, or related topics, but today I want to talk about a subject that I think hits home to all of us. It is the Instagram comparison trap.
We have to admit, at times we all can get frustrated and not feel adequate to even be posting. This is very common and I want you to know, you are not alone.
The word splurge always excites me! I mean what woman doesn’t want to spend a little extra money on upgrading some important items in the home? The best part is, this is money well spent! I love knowing I can upgrade on a few areas and feel good about it. It is money that will actually play a big part on making your home look more high end. I’m going to discuss five areas that we chose to splurge on in our current home. We will also be doing the same in our upcoming build.
Since Brooke and I started this blog and Instagram account, I have taken a bunch of pictures of our house! And it’s been a continual learning process. One of the things I’ve learned is the importance of maintaining straight lines.
Brooke has been busy finding vaulted ceiling inspiration like the image above. It’s images like that one that really got her thinking we needed to go vaulted with our great room and kitchen in the new house. We started off searching on line for a stock plan, but we quickly realized that it was going to be impossible to find a plan that had vaulted ceilings and everything else we were looking for. So at that point, we started the search for an architect. This was going to be a completely new process for us since on our other houses we had always used a stock plan and modified it to fit our needs.
We are always getting asked about our floors. It’s probably the most asked question on our Instagram posts. Our floors are a engineered hardwood, and we absolutely love them. But many of the people that ask about them don’t have much experience with engineered. So I thought I would write an article about why we like engineered so much and why we actually prefer it over solid.
